'Terrordactyl Face'
March 22, 2011
New sounds on deck from The Nice Machine! 'Terrordactyl Face' is the latest from the musically metamorphosing group, representing the latest chapter in the band's ongoing instrumental onslaught. After a handful of wildly far-out and at times downright bizarre releases over the past few years, this new full-length recording finds the group delivering fairly straight forward instrumental rock with pop, surf and punk undergarments. With this album, Nice Machine forego some of their more esoteric departures to present a clear cut sound, full of danceable grooves and infectious riffs. With minimal overdubs, the band achieves a live sound on record similar to the sixties surf music that they used to jam to on their old space/time-travel adventures. For a limited time, 'Terrordactyl Face' is only available in physical format, so order a copy today because it's fun to get stuff in the mail! Plus, all of our physical orders ship with fun freebie surprises (kind of like Cracker Jacks without the sticky fingers), so don't miss out!
'The Verdict'
February 8, 2011
'The Verdict' is in! Deaf Judges go out swinging with this final EP recorded just before the group split late last year. The hard edged rap styles over psychedelic beat tapestries that the Judges were known for are in full effect here. These handful of tracks are among the most well-crafted and strongest material presented by the group during their four year stint as Georgia's best kept underground rap secret weapon of manic devastation. The Judges will be missed, but it is clear they wanted to go out on a high with this last release. As with last year's 'The High Honorable' EP, 'The Verdict' is available for free download, which you can link to by clicking HERE. (donations are accepted and appreciated!) You can also order a limited edition physical copy, packaged with professional artwork from your good friends right here at EC Ruins. Physical orders come shipped with a free Deaf Judges poster and are available for a limited time only.
Deaf Judges Split
December 2, 2010
Sad news, as the Emerald City's flagship Hip Hop crew has decided to call it "court adjourned" for the last time. Citing the traditional "creative differences" as the motivation behind the split, the Deaf Judges say they will continue working separately on their respective musical paths, except for Rorshak who has announced a permanent retirement from music. During their brief four year tenure, the Deaf Judges managed to rack up an impressive list of accomplishments. The group released one full length CD, an 8 song EP and a 12" vinyl, opened shows with legendary and respected artists such as Ghostface Killah, Kool Keith, Three 6 Mafia, RJD2 and Rudy Ray Moore (Dolemite), toured the South and up and down the East Coast successfully, and were awarded the Flagpole Music Award for Best Hip Hop in Athens, Georgia four years in a row. They will be missed. Look for a new EP of material recorded before the break up to drop at the beginning of the year.
